Job description

Description:

Enrichment Teacher

Schedule: Monday-Friday 12pm-6pm

Pay Rate: $20/hour

Location: 94th Street: 345 E 94th St, New York, NY 10128

About us:

New York Preschool & Kids Club is a premier early childhood education and enrichment program serving modern New York families through our combination of enrichment classes and preschool education. With multiple schools across New York City, NYPKC blends a research-backed, play-based curriculum with a fun and supportive environment, delivering a full family experience for children and parents.

About the Role

We are seeking a high-energy Enrichment Teacher to provide New York City’s 0 to 6-year-olds with a foundation for lifelong learning through our incredible enrichment classes. In this "jack of all trades" role, you are part athlete, part scientist, and part performer- transitioning seamlessly from spotting a budding gymnast on the bars, to leading a "mad science" experiment, or coaching a parent and toddler through their very first steps. As a natural storyteller with a flair for the dramatic and a heart for early childhood development, you will turn every lesson into a core memory, ensuring our youngest learners feel confident, inspired, and excited to explore the world around them.

What You’ll Do

  • The Enrichment Chameleon: Lead and co-lead a dynamic range of classes for children ages 0 to 6. You seamlessly pivot between our diverse classes and age groups to keep every lesson fresh and every class special.
  • The Developmental Architect: Use structured and unstructured play, art, music, gymnastics, and STEM to build a child’s confidence and coordination. You’ll curate a "safe to fail" environment where a shaky first step or a messy art project is celebrated as a vital leap in their lifelong learning journey.
  • The Proactive Problem Solver: Master the art of the transition and the "behind-the-scenes" flow. Whether it’s resetting a gym circuit, organizing a classroom, or jumping in to assist a teammate, you tackle daily operations with a "ready-for-anything" attitude.
  • The Family Partner: Build trust with parents and caregivers through daily updates, sharing the successes and challenges of their child’s day, and building a bridge between school and home.

The statements in this job description are intended to describe the essential nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be all responsibilities or qualifications of the job.

Requirements:
  • Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, but an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood (or someone who is studying) is preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2+ years of formal teaching experience in early childhood (ages 0-6). Camp, pre-k, after-school, and other enrichment experiences are preferred. Experience teaching music, dance, gymnastics, or yoga is a plus!
  • Special Edge: Be a passionate teacher and lifelong learner!

Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.

What Success Looks Like

  • Ensuring a safe, joyful, and engaging classroom environment where every child thrives.
  • Anticipating classroom needs and preparing resources well in advance of instruction.
  • Executing smooth, efficient transitions between classes and activities to maximize learning time.
  • Cultivating trust-based relationships with students, families, and the internal team.
  • Maintaining 100% compliance with all Department of Health compliance requirements.

Physical Demands:

The role involves standing, walking, sitting, constant movement, and occasional climbing. The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds is required. Specific sensory abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjustment of focus.

Inclusivity and Diversity:

NY Preschool & Kids Club is committed to an inclusive and diverse community. We celebrate differences, leading with kindness and respect. We are an equal opportunity employer, prohibiting discrimination based on various factors.

Accommodations:

The NY Preschool & Kids Club complies with ADA requirements. If you need accommodation in completing the application, please contact interview@nykidsclub.com.
