This position is for the Kids Club Associate at the Old Bridge YMCA
Under the direct supervision of the Youth and Family Program Coordinator, the Kids Club Associate is responsible for quality childcare and babysitting. The Associate has a complete knowledge of the YMCA mission, character counts, and programs which include policies, rates, programs and the facility. The Kids Club Associate implements the program activities and guides the development of the children, ensuring a safe, enriching, and healthy environment. The Kids Club Associate must interact with adults and the children in a harmonious manner.
We are currently looking to fill the Kids Club position at the Old Bridge YMCA Monday- Wednesday 5PM- 8PM and Saturday/Sunday 8:55AM-12:30PM.
  • Must always be on time and ready for your scheduled shift, which includes but is not limited to adhering to the established branch and department dress code.
  • Demonstrate YMCA core character values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring in all interactions with employees, members, staff and others; commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Provide exceptional care for children during the day-to-day operation of the Kids Club room. Interact with children during activities.
  • Help to implement the activities scheduled in an appropriate manner, meeting the needs of the children physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.
  • Provide careful, attentive care and is always alert.
  • Maintain a clean environment and routinely follow our cleaning procedures.
  • Use a diverse selection of materials, toys and experiences for all participants.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Kids Club room and equipment, performing all required shift duties as specified by supervisor.
  • Exercise sound judgment in relationship to member safety & injuries. Follow all emergency procedures
  • Visually inspect work area and equipment for safety and risk, report to supervisor in writing any problems.
  • Responsible for filling out accident/incident reports and getting these reports to the Director. Additionally, immediately report any unsafe or suspicious activity directly to Youth and Family Program Coordinator or Director on Duty.

  • The individual must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a Child Care facility or as a babysitter.
  • The individual should have a broad understanding of childcare policies.
  • The individual must possess and demonstrate the ability to engage in all the activities associated with the daily routines of the program's children, including but not limited to: interacting with children at floor level, lifting children and equipment, participating in activities such as reading.
  • Must possess oral and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both adult and children.
  • First Aid, CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire date

  • Blood borne Pathogen Online Training
  • Notify Wellness Director within 60 days before First Aid, CPR/AED expiration date. The YMCA provides First Aid, CPR/AED recertification classes.
