Job Title: AWS Cloud Architect
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid: 3 days onsite/2 days remote)
Duration: 12 Months (with potential for extension)

Overview:
We are seeking an AWS Cloud Architect who will support our NYC client.
This senior-level role will define scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-efficient AWS cloud architectures while establishing enterprise cloud frameworks, standards, governance models, policies, and implementation playbooks. The architect will partner with business and technology teams to assess requirements, design multi-cloud and hybrid solutions, guide engineering teams, and support cloud adoption, migration, automation, security, networking, performance, and cost-management initiatives.
Duties:
  • Develop scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-efficient AWS cloud architectures aligned with organizational goals and cybersecurity policies.
  • Engage business users and technology teams to assess requirements and translate them into implementable multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud solution architectures.
  • Define and maintain cloud architecture frameworks, governance models, policies, technical standards, reference patterns, and implementation playbooks.
  • Evaluate application readiness for cloud adoption and develop detailed migration strategies, roadmaps, and on-premises-to-cloud integration approaches.
  • Produce comprehensive architecture documentation and Microsoft Visio diagrams for cloud platforms, networking, security, integrations, and migration solutions.
  • Design and govern multi-account AWS Organizations and support multi-subscription Azure tenant architectures.
  • Architect solutions using AWS compute, storage, analytics, database, serverless, container, networking, monitoring, backup, and disaster-recovery services.
  • Support Azure architecture efforts involving compute, storage, analytics, databases, serverless services, containers, networking, security, and monitoring.
  • Guide engineering teams and augment cloud engineering activities involving AWS CloudShell, Azure Cloud Shell, PowerShell, CLI tools, and infrastructure automation.
  • Advance Infrastructure-as-Code practices using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure ARM, or Pulumi and support CI/CD automation through GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Automate configuration management using Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Implement cloud security controls and zero-trust practices using IAM, RBAC, WAF, Security Groups, NACLs, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Secrets Manager, Azure Defender for Cloud, Key Vault, encryption, and monitoring.
  • Design hybrid network connectivity using VPCs, vNets, hub-and-spoke models, Transit Gateway, peering, load balancers, VPNs, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute.
  • Implement disaster recovery and backup strategies that meet regulatory compliance and defined RTO/RPO requirements.
  • Optimize cloud costs and performance using AWS Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports, Savings Plans, Azure Advisor, reservations, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and FinOps practices.
  • Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, networking, availability, performance, and service issues using cloud-native logging, monitoring, tracing, and flow-analysis tools.
  • Collaborate with Network, Server, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Finance, and Procurement teams and communicate complex technical concepts in business-friendly language.
  • Participate in cloud strategy planning, architecture reviews, technical discussions, and enterprise technology decision-making.

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of hands-on AWS cloud architecture experience, including deep knowledge of AWS platforms, services, architecture frameworks, governance, standards, and policies.
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure cloud architecture and services.
  • 4+ years of experience designing hybrid on-premises/cloud and multi-cloud solutions, including interoperability and on-premises-to-cloud integrations.
  • 4+ years of cloud networking experience with VPCs, vNets, hub-and-spoke architecture, Transit Gateway, peering, load balancers, VPNs, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute.
  • 4+ years of Cloud DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and CI/CD experience.
  • 2+ years of cloud security and compliance experience involving IAM, RBAC, network security controls, encryption, logging, monitoring, secrets management, and cloud security frameworks.
  • 1+ years of cloud cost optimization and FinOps experience.
  • 2+ years of experience producing cloud architecture diagrams and technical documentation using Microsoft Visio.
  • Experience efficiently managing multi-account AWS Organizations and multi-subscription Azure tenants.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS CloudShell, Azure Cloud Shell, PowerShell, or command-line interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS compute, storage, analytics, database, serverless, container, networking, monitoring, backup, and disaster-recovery services.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure compute, storage, analytics, database, serverless, container, networking, monitoring, backup, and disaster-recovery services.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure ARM, or Pulumi for infrastructure provisioning.
  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Experience with configuration-management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Knowledge of zero-trust architecture and security frameworks such as CIS, NIST, or ISO 27001.
  • Experience implementing disaster-recovery and backup strategies aligned with regulatory compliance and RTO/RPO requirements.
  • Experience with cloud performance monitoring, availability monitoring, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, auto-scaling, caching, and load balancing.
  • Strong stakeholder-engagement skills with the ability to assess business requirements, guide engineers, collaborate across technical and nontechnical teams, and communicate complex concepts clearly.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with SIEM platforms such as Splunk or Chronicle Security.
  • Experience with CDN and edge services such as CloudFront, Global Accelerator, Azure Front Door, Cloudflare, or Akamai.
  • Experience supporting OpenShift environments.

Educational & Certification Requirements:
  • Current AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification is strongly preferred; certification credentials should be submitted when applicable.
  • Current Microsoft Azure certification is a plus.
