Job description

The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining supporting, and maintaining could infrastructure, services, and solutions in Microsoft Azure ensuring efficient data storage, security compliance, and optimal system performance by developing, deploying, and debugging cloud-based application while collaborating with stakeholders to understand the requirements and migrate to/from the Azure cloud. In addition, this position functions as part of a team performing critical support tasks, ensuring network functionality is available and performing correctly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assessing existing IT infrastructure and developing strategies to migrate or build applications and data to and from the cloud

  • Choosing the appropriate cloud services (compute, storage, network, database) based on requirements

  • Setting up and managing cloud infrastructure components such as virtual machines, load balancers, front door, CDNs, app services, and networking.

  • Using scripting languages to automate cloud management tasks and streamline deployments.

  • Implementing robust security measures on cloud platforms to protect sensitive data, including access control and encryptions.

  • Monitoring cloud usage and identifying opportunities to reduce cloud expenses.

  • Diagnosing and resolving issues related to cloud infrastructure and applications.

  • Tracking the performance of cloud applications and identifying bottlenecks.

  • Maintain and support Go Anywhere MFT platforms that process secure data transfers; create accounts and SFTP sites as requested; develop and maintain process design documentation, end-user guides, and operating procedures for our Go Anywhere platform as applicable

  • Prepares technical implementation plans that provide integrated solutions, including actions, milestones, timelines, and critical paths for complete solutions.

  • Responsible for configuration management and documentation of system topologies

  • Work closely with the Information Security team to quickly remediate any security concerns that arise

  • Provide Level 3 support to the Service Desk team

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required:

  • Knowledgeable in managing Linux servers, ensuring system security, efficiency, and reliability.

  • Knowledgeable in SQL database environment, performing maintenance tasks and optimization of the environment, and ensuring data integrity and security.

  • Active Directory experience (including promoting/demoting controllers, managing Active Directory DNS, FSMO roles, etc.)

  • Microsoft 365 Administration (including advanced Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and EntraID administration)

  • Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, SMTP, DHCP, and DNS), software network security, and port-level communication (i.e. firewall configuration)

  • Experience automating repetitive tasks with scripting with one or more of the following technologies and/or equivalent: (batch files, PowerShell, VBScript, WMI, etc.)

  • System performance tuning, trending, and analysis

  • Virtualization and cloud system management experience (i.e. VMWare, Azure, AWS, etc.)

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and tackle new and technically complex problems

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing needs and requirements

  • Must be detail-oriented and an organized thinker who is service-minded with solid communication skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree in Information Technology or related field with 5+ years' experience in systems administration.

  • Microsoft or VMware certifications are required.

  • Virtualization and cloud system management experience (i.e., VMWare, Azure).

  • Experience in Windows Server administration/management.

  • Experience with Linux-based operating systems, specifically IBM AIX.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position constantly.

  • Occasionally, light lifting to 25 pounds may be required.

Work Environment:

  • Occasional travel may be required.
