Job Description
The System Engineer II reports to the Senior Manager, Software Engineer. The primary focus of this position is to administer the Salesforce.com environment ensuring users have access and training. The position will also assist in maintaining the customization portion of salesforce.com. Must understand basic system standardized tasks and will apply them under close supervision of management.
The Systems Engineer II - Atlassian Cloud Platform reports to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure Engineering. The primary focus of this position is to administer, support, and optimize the university's Atlassian Cloud Enterprise environment, ensuring users have appropriate access, training, and support. This position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing platform configurations, automations, integrations, and governance practices across Atlassian products including Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, and Atlassian Guard. The Systems Engineer II applies established technical standards and operational processes while contributing to platform improvements and enterprise initiatives under general supervision.
Job Duties
  • Performs system administration, configuration, maintenance, and support for Atlassian Cloud products, including Jira Software, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Atlassian Guard, and related applications.

  • Manages and performs Atlassian Cloud configuration, deployment, and platform administration activities, ensuring appropriate rollback, recovery, and change management procedures exist at all times.

  • Resolves Atlassian platform issues submitted through the university's ticketing systems and serves as an escalation point for complex platform-related issues.

  • Reviews platform configurations, workflows, automation rules, scripts, integrations, and Marketplace applications to ensure adherence to established standards, security requirements, and best practices.

  • Ensures appropriate backup, recovery, and continuity procedures are maintained in support of organizational disaster recovery requirements.

  • Creates and maintains documentation for Atlassian platform architecture, configurations, governance standards, policies, procedures, and operational processes.

  • Maintains development, testing, and production environments and supports feature releases, upgrades, migrations, and platform enhancements.

  • Maintains data integrity, security, and governance across Atlassian Cloud environments.

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise cloud platforms.

  • Experience with Atlassian Guard, SAML/SSO authentication, SCIM user provisioning, and identity management integrations.

  • Experience implementing and supporting platform integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, and related technologies.

  • Experience with scripting, automation, or development technologies such as Forge, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or similar tools.

  • Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and IT Service Management (ITSM) practices.
