Job Summary:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic IT team.
  • This role is pivotal in supporting the Agency and its affiliated entities as they expand their operations into cloud environments.
  • The cloud engineer will provide expert technical guidance on cloud security, system upgrades, and issue resolution to OCIO senior leadership, internal divisions, and external partners.
  • They will ensure responsive and professional service delivery, collaborating with other OCIO technical teams to manage changes and upgrades to cloud tools and applications.

Duties:

  • Developing and implementing governance policies that align with industry best practices to ensure our IT infrastructure remains secure and efficient.
  • Continuous evaluation of our cloud infrastructure to identify opportunities for service improvement, cost savings, and enhanced security will be essential.
  • Capacity planning is also important to ensure systems are appropriately scaled for current and future needs, while proactive monitoring will ensure optimal performance.
  • Generating detailed reports on cloud storage usage, highlighting data composition and identifying top users and organizational usage patterns.
  • The cloud engineer will oversee financial planning and cost tracking across platforms like Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS, ensuring expenditures remain within budget and providing regular reporting on planned versus actual spending.
  • This comprehensive oversight ensures that the Agencyโ€™s cloud infrastructure is not only technically sound but also financially sustainable and aligned with our strategic goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certifications preferred (i.e., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Cloud Professional Engineer, Certified Cloud Security Professional).
  • 5+ years of enterprise IT experience with handsโ€‘on cloud engineering.
  • 5+ years of proven Expertise in Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS, including security and governance.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud upgrades, capacity planning, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Ability to manage cloud costs, usage reporting, and advise leadership.
