Location: Adelphi, MD
The Application Administrator is responsible for configuration/modifications of in-house, vendor hosted, cloud based and/or COTS software applications. Position will contribute to solution design, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of the assigned software applications including managing system security, user roles/permissions, monitoring and optimizing application performance. Responsible for understanding business requirements and configuring program properties to meet business needs. This position is responsible for business requirements gathering, documentation, set-up activities, configuration, testing and user support for application software
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform system administration with COTS Applications
  • Work with the business to develop solutions to support their processes. Participate in and provide technical expertise as a project team member in various application implementations.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house applications.
  • Monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key applications in production environment as identified by Business Owners or Technical Teams.
  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Perform daily monitoring and troubleshooting of in-house and COTS applications
  • Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.
  • Perform Tier III troubleshooting on assigned applications and coordinate with software and hardware developers and suppliers for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.
  • Support testing, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
  • Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of software programs and applications.
  • Evaluate, install, configure, and support the deployment applications, software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise.
  • Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
  • Work closely with the internal customers to prepare functional development specifications and potential system configuration changes. Gather detail requirements from business users for approved large scale projects and small enhancements to existing projects.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance testing (UAT) with the business customer. Provide input to Business Requirement Documents (BRD) and functional specification documents to UAT and system test groups, in order to assist with testing scenarios.
  • Provide System Requirement Documents (SRD) and Systems External Specifications (SES) documents to UAT and System test groups, to assist with testing scenarios.
  • Document all aspects of the system (e.g. process design, User Requirements Specifications, Functional System Requirements and Developments Specifications, test plans, integration efforts, etc.
  • Support data migration and cutover plans in support of project schedules
  • Develop written reference and support material related to reporting, analytics and decision support solutions. Ensure the quality and accuracy of documentation provided by other team members.

Education & Experience Requirements:
Experience:
  • 4 + years of experience including three or more years direct hands-on experience in full lifecycle implementations, deep functional configuration experience with one or more software applications and/or troubleshooting systems at a Tier 3 level
  • Extensive experience with core software applications, including some of the following applications: Desire2Learn, ServiceNow, Salesforce.com, Saba, Liferay Portal, SharePoint, WebEx, Wimba or comparable products.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes
  • Experience in generating and delivering business process definitions, gap/fit analysis, pre-implementation workshops. Experience in the creation and maintenance of business requirements documents, statements of work, project plans, test plans, and/or other project-related documents.
  • Proven experience in defining solution strategies, building business cases, analyzing systems requirements, developing process maps and swim lanes, designing and prototyping solutions, defining testing requirements, defining support procedures, and implementing practical solutions.
  • Extensive software knowledge including Microsoft Word, advanced MS Excel data manipulation and formatting, and MS Access.

Hiring Range:
$90,000.00 - $105,000.00
