Project Location – Remote

M365 Systems Engineer/ Systems Administrator III (Healthcare)

About the Role

We are partnering with a healthcare organization seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator III to support, maintain, and optimize their enterprise Microsoft 365 environment. This role will play a critical part in ensuring system reliability, security, and compliance while supporting clinical and business operations across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with M365 administration, a solid understanding of healthcare IT environments, and the ability to operate independently in a fully remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and support the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Manage user identities, access controls, security groups, and conditional access policies
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security, proactively identifying and resolving issues
  • Support email security, data loss prevention (DLP), retention policies, and eDiscovery
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to HIPAA and healthcare IT standards
  • Implement and maintain endpoint management solutions using Intune / Endpoint Manager
  • Provide Tier 3 support and escalation for complex M365 and identity-related issues
  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and M365 feature rollouts
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures
  • Work closely with cross-functional IT teams to support clinical and administrative users

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer, with a strong focus on Microsoft technologies
  • Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 in an enterprise environment
  • Strong knowledge of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Experience with Intune / MDM / endpoint management
  • Solid understanding of identity and access management (IAM) concepts
  • Familiarity with PowerShell for automation and administrative tasks
  • Experience working in a healthcare or regulated environment
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote role during EST business hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting healthcare organizations or clinical systems
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance, security controls, and audit readiness
  • Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, MD-102, or related M365 certifications
  • Experience with security tools such as Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access, and DLP policies
  • Exposure to hybrid environments (on-prem Active Directory + Azure AD)
