Job description

Overview
The Clinical Risk Manager assists the Hospital Risk Manager with development and implementation of risk management processes designed to meet the requirements of the Florida Administrative Code. These include: facilitation of surveys by regulatory and accrediting bodies; development of action plans to achieve and maintain compliance with standards and regulations; occurrence investigation; root cause analysis with action plan development and follow-up; maintenance of the occurrence reporting system, along with databases supporting the system. This position coordinates with the Patient Relations department on investigations of complaints and grievances. This position assists with early identification of liability exposures and collaborates with the self-insurance program to mitigate risks.
Qualifications
Required Education:Bachelor's degree. Specific course work: One of the following: Florida Health Care Risk Management Certification, completion of a 120-hour Risk Management educational program, degree from an accredited law school and/or advance degree in health law from an accredited law schoolPreferred Education:Clinical background (Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine) or Master's degree in related field.Necessary Skills:1. Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Ability to create charts and graphs and Powerpoint presentations. Must be willing to learn additional software.2. Ability to work independently3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills 4. Effective presenter 5. Customer service skills6. Ability to make decisions related to risk management/patient safety7. Ability to manage conflictRequired Licensure/Certifications:Certification in Professional Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) within one (1) year of hire or transfer into the position.Required Experience:3-5 years healthcare risk management:Preferred Experience:Clinical risk management in a large acute care hospital or previous regulatory, risk management or quality management experienceSupervision:Number of employees supervised: 0Budgetary Responsibility:Responsible for annual budget of $0.00
