Preferred Qualifications
Risk management coursework, paralegal certification, JD coursework, or other formal legal training is preferred.
Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama's Risk Management department is seeking to hire a Risk Management and Insurance Analyst. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
  • Conducts various risk investigations and prepares reports on findings to Risk Management, including interacting with University faculty, staff, administrators and outside entities.
  • Attends meetings to represent Risk Management when requested.
  • Assists with providing Risk Management services to University and Hospital departments.
  • Assists in processing summons and complaints served to University employees.
  • Reviews and processes legal requests for the release of medical records to ensure HIPAA and other legal compliance.
  • Assists with legal case management.
  • Reviews medical records.
  • Assists with healthcare and university risk and legal issues when they arise.
  • Assists with insurance renewals, including obtaining all necessary data required for various insurance renewals.
  • Prepares and reviews various internal insurance forms.
  • Submits reports to the State Insurance Fund and coordinates various claims through to completion.
  • Maintains various databases of all clinical healthcare employees, defendant's lists, and insurance claims.
  • Prepares verifications for all institutions and hospital credentialing offices.
  • Verifies insurance coverage and claims histories for all past and present insureds.
  • Manages all provider files.
  • Manages the automobile insurance program for the University.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
