Job Summary: Red Rocks Community College is seeking part-time clinical Nursing Instructors for the following areas to join our dynamic academic team: Medical Surgical Nursing (MS Nursing), Maternal and Child (OB), and Psych Mental Health. In this role, instructors will be responsible for teaching in the clinical setting for Nursing, in alignment with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Colorado Community College System. Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery for this discipline is in a clinical setting. May be held days, evenings, and weekends. This position reports to the department chair within the discipline and does not supervise other employees. Occasional meetings or trainings may also be scheduled outside of regular work hours. The finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including online classes. The role may work up to 28 hours per week for a duration of up to 9 months, depending on departmental need and budget. The finalist must designate Colorado as their primary work location. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations • Ability to give and receive oral and written instructions and procedures • Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using traditional and alternative methods of instruction • Ability to occasionally move, position, and transport classroom and/ or laboratory equipment. Clinical assignments may require the ability to lift and/or move patients • Ability to work in the clinical setting in the greater metropolitan area surrounding Arvada, Lakewood, and Denver. Required Qualifications: • An active, Unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado. • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a nursing education program with national nursing accreditation • Two years of full-time or equivalent professional nursing practice • One year of clinical experience relevant to the areas of responsibility • Current AHA-BLS CPR card. • Experience teaching and/or training in various subjects within the Nursing discipline. • Has, or qualifies for, postsecondary CTE credential including 4000 paid non-teaching occupational hours within the last 5 years* • Demonstrate a growth mindset regarding professional development. • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form as appropriate for the needs of the audience. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. • Current immunizations as required by the clinical agency (agencies)Physical & Cognitive Demands The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position. • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files, office materials, and people weighing up to 150 lbs. • This position operates in a clinical environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. • Cognitive demands include comparing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in higher education. • Clinical Scholar (via Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence). • Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for customers, key stakeholders, or students using effective inclusive strategies. • Demonstrate building successful professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies. • Participate and/or lead in professional organizations, committees and/or taskforces. • Experience with remote and/or online teaching/training and experience developing courses for multiple delivery formats. • Ability to develop well-defined assessment/evaluation objectives and high-performance standards aligned with expectations. RRCC/CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need.
