Job description

Position Summary

The Clinical Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting clinical and operational data to support informed decision-making across the organization. This role partners with clinical, operational, and IT teams to develop reports, dashboards, and insights that improve patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extract, analyze, and validate data from clinical systems (e.g., EHR, financial, operational systems) 
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, SQL, or Excel 
  • Support hospital operations through reporting on key metrics (e.g., DNFB, LOS, case mix index, patient volumes) 
  • Collaborate with clinical, finance, and operational teams to understand reporting needs and deliver actionable insights 
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reporting platforms 
  • Assist in regulatory and compliance reporting (e.g., HCAI, CMS, internal audits) 
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement 
  • Support data requests from leadership, departments, and external stakeholders 
  • Document reporting processes, data definitions, and workflows 
  • Participate in data validation, testing, and system upgrades (e.g., EHR enhancements, migrations) 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) 
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in data analysis (healthcare experience preferred) 
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation 
  • Experience with reporting/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, or similar) 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) 
  • Ability to communicate data insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with EHR systems such as Paragon, Epic Systems, or Cerner 
  • Knowledge of healthcare metrics (DNFB, LOS, readmissions, case mix index, etc.) 
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory reporting requirements (HCAI, CMS) 
  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare system environment
