JOB DESCRIPTION: Clinical Research Coordinator, MA
REPORTS TO: Site Administrator
DEFINITION OF POSITION:
The Clinical Research Coordinator supports the successful execution of clinical trials by coordinating study activities, guiding patients through the research process, and ensuring compliance with study protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards. This role serves as a key liaison among patients, investigators, physicians, providers, sponsors, monitors, and internal clinical teams to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient trial operations. The position is especially well-suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, values precision, and is passionate about improving patient outcomes through research.
IGA is committed to the attainment and maintenance of an ergonomically healthy workplace to protect all employees. Safe working conditions are a top priority. Our goal through the support of physicians, administration and staff is to create a culture of ergonomic safety. Staff are encouraged to ask for assistance when moving heavy items to prevent musculoskeletal injuries. All concerns from staff are to be forwarded to the Clinical Director to facilitate correction of any scenario where staff may feel a risk may occur. Adequate lighting should be maintained, and workstations will be equipped for ergonomic safety. Staff are encouraged to wear nonskid footwear, remove, or eliminate all clutter, cabinet doors should remain closed, spills will be wiped up immediately, cables will be kept out of traffic flow areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate and conduct research activities in accordance with study protocols and institutional requirements.
2. Guide patients through the clinical trial process, from screening and enrollment through follow-up visits.
3. Conduct and document informed consent processes.
4. Conduct blood draws and direct patients through an specimen collection processes
5. Review medical records and extract required data to determine patient eligibility and support study documentation.
6. Assist with patient recruitment for clinical trials.
7. Schedule and coordinate study visits, procedures, labs, imaging, and treatment-related activities.
8. Document study activity, patient progress, adverse events, and consent details in the electronic medical record and other required systems.
9. Initiate and submit serious adverse event reports in collaboration with the physician and/or principal investigator.
10. Maintain clinical trial management systems and prepare reports as needed.
11. Prepare for and support study monitor visits, audits, and sponsor communications.
12. Coordinate investigational product logistics, sample handling, and timely safety/event reporting.
13. Serve as a resource and liaison for physicians, providers, investigators, sponsors, monitors, and staff regarding research processes and study requirements.
14. Collaborate with investigators and regulatory staff to support Institutional Review Board requirements and protocol compliance.
15. Prepare basic statistical summaries, reports, and presentations as requested.
16. Work collaboratively with internal teams and external business, academic, or community partners.
17. Support process improvement efforts to enhance research operations and standards of practice.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to succeed
• Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or Certified Clinic Medical Assistant
• Maintains Basic Life Support certification.
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• One Year of Phlebotomy experience
• Two or more years of clinical research experience (Preferred)
• Bachelor's degree (Preferred)
• Multi-lingual (Preferred)
