Climbing Instructor IV - Peak Performance Team Coach
JOB SUMMARY
The Climbing Instructor Level 4 - Peak Performance Team Coach is an experienced climbing coach responsible for developing and implementing weekly climbing training and coaching curriculum for a team of adult climbers. Each Peak Performance Team has a unique community and culture designed and built by the coach to facilitate the growth of its climbers and community members. Coaches are also expected to work occasional classes/clinics and/or events to support the growth of their team and the gym's needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitate transformative climbing experiences while managing risks for participants and the community at large.
  • Communicate with team athletes via email regarding practice schedules, program updates, expectations, and other team-related information.
  • Communicate with prospective athletes regarding program offerings, enrollment, expectations, and opportunities to join the team.
  • Collaborate with the Climbing Programs Manager to establish and achieve team goals, address program needs, and support the continued growth and development of the program.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all guests by seeking answers and solutions for customer questions.
  • Provide input on or write lesson plans that support the program's goals and participant growth and promote connection to our community.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with co-workers and supervisors about feedback and concerns.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Passionate about climbing, yoga, and/or fitness
  • Demonstrated growth mindset through a willingness to learn and a sense of curiosity.
  • Demonstrated openness to learn from others and collaborate to achieve common goals.
  • Experienced with building community and coaching, preferably in a group/team setting.
  • Capacity to coach climbers on specific climbing movement and mental skill drills.
  • Interested in working with adults to support others having transformative, purpose-driven experiences.
  • Relentlessly positive and upbeat attitude to inspire others to live life intentionally and strive for personal bests.
  • Experience developing long-term periodization climbing training plans for adult athletes strongly preferred. Providing effective, professional feedback to climbers in the V4 - V6 range.
  • Lead climbing skills and instruction preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work recurring weekly PPT sessions and weeknight or weekend hours occasionally for other classes and group events as needed. PPT sessions run Wednesday evenings and instructors are expected to be available for the same hours weekly.
  • Availability for weekend group event support as needed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • This is a part-time position
  • Starting at $20.00 - $20.50/hr, with flexibility based on experience

  • New hires will complete a screening process.
  • Scheduled shift times may vary from week to week or month to month.
