POSITION OVERVIEW
This position reports to the Customer Service Manager. Ensures the safety of all wall climbers and assist in teaching classes and working parties/rental/special events
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Development of climbing wall programs, classes and special events.
  • Develop and implement all climbing wall protocol (rules, regulations, and procedures).
  • Ensure proper supervision of climbing wall.
  • Train and schedule climbing wall staff and belayers for all activities, groups, classes, and events.
  • Schedule and staff private groups, classes, birthday parties, special events
  • Maintenance and inspection of climbing wall and all equipment, including autobelays, ropes, caribeaners, and handholds.
  • Keep accurate records/reports and complete all written records as required.
  • Maintain waivers for the use of the climbing wall.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all areas of use in and around The Centre and care properly for all equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in promoting and marketing climbing wall programs and events.
  • Wear appropriate staff uniform.
  • Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Keep informed of all wall activities, programs and classes.
  • Abide by all City of Elgin rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Manual.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Prior experience working an indoor climbing environment required.
  • Self-motivated; able to implement, evaluate and suggest solutions or improvements to programs.
  • Ability to train and supervise climbing wall instructors and belayers.
  • Ability to enforce all rules and regulations in a professional manner.
  • CPR/First Aid certified within 3 months of employment.
