Job Title: Bucket Trimmer

Job Summary:

The Bucket Trimmer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a bucket truck to perform tree trimming, pruning, and removal tasks. This position requires expertise in operating aerial lifts, knowledge of tree care practices, and a strong commitment to safety, especially when working near electrical hazards. The Bucket Trimmer works as part of a team to ensure projects are completed effectively and to the satisfaction of clients or utility standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain bucket trucks (aerial lifts) safely and efficiently. This includes daily inspections, pre-trip checks, and ensuring the equipment is in proper working order.
  • Perform tree trimming, pruning, and removal according to industry best practices and client/utility specifications. This involves using hand tools, chainsaws, and other necessary equipment while working at height.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for themselves and their crew, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies. This is especially critical when working near power lines, requiring knowledge of electrical hazards and safety procedures.
  • Clear and trim trees and brush away from utility lines, roads, buildings, or other specified areas.
  • Properly cut and handle tree limbs and debris, ensuring efficient cleanup and disposal, often involving feeding material into a wood chipper.
  • Assist ground crew members with tasks such as site preparation, traffic control, and debris removal.
