Job description
Our Climate Risk, Resilience, and Sustainability team helps clients understand, quantify, manage, disclose, and act on climate-related risks and opportunities across physical climate risk, transition risk, resilience, adaptation, mitigation, decarbonization, and regulatory readiness. Our work combines climate data, geospatial and scenario analysis, financial and operational analysis, and leading frameworks such as TCFD, CSRD, IFRS sustainability standards, SASB, CDP, and related regulatory and investor expectations. As a Managing Consultant, you will lead client-facing workstreams, translate climate science, policy, data, and business implications into practical strategies and implementation plans, and support the growth of digitally enabled and AI-supported climate risk and resilience offerings.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Manage climate risk and resilience, mitigation and adaptation, and regulatory readiness workstreams, including scoping support, workplan development, delivery management, client coordination, and quality review.
- Assess physical and transition climate risks by combining climate datasets, asset-level exposure and vulnerability information, scenario analysis, geospatial analysis, financial and operational impact assessment, insurance considerations such as insured value, uninsured exposure, insurability, and potential coverage changes, policy and regulatory developments, market shifts, technology change, carbon pricing, value-chain risks, and stakeholder requirements.
- Develop practical climate transition and resilience programs, including governance structures and processes, operating models, KPIs, implementation roadmaps, capital and operational measures, cost-benefit analyses, data management approaches, and change management plans.
- Support climate disclosure and reporting by translating TCFD, CSRD, IFRS Sustainability Standards, SASB, CDP, assurance readiness, regulatory gap assessment, metrics, targets, and disclosure narrative requirements into actionable client deliverables.
- Translate climate science, risk analytics, financial and insurance-related implications, policy developments, enterprise risk management considerations, and implementation options into executive-ready presentations, decision-useful insights, and practical recommendations.
- Facilitate client executive briefings, workshops, interviews, and working sessions with confidence, clarity, and strong business judgment.
- Manage project teams and consultants by setting clear expectations, reviewing work products, coaching team members, and supporting a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Contribute to business development and solution innovation, including market research, solution design, proposal development, thought leadership, and the growth of Guidehouse’s climate risk and resilience services.
- Apply digital tools, automation / coding, data analytics, and AI-enabled approaches to improve climate risk assessment, program implementation, reporting, and client decision-making.
- Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagements.
- Bachelor’s degree in climate science, sustainability, environmental management, engineering, economics, finance, data science, public policy, business, or a related field from an accredited university or college.
- Six (6+) plus years of relevant industry, consulting, or post‑graduation academic research experience.
- Note that internships, co‑ops, graduate research conducted as part of a degree program, and fellowships are not counted towards years of experience.
- Experience with climate datasets, asset‑level risk screening, catastrophe or hazard modeling, and analytical platforms such as ArcGIS, Python, R, and Power BI.
- This experience may include hands‑on programming, process management, and/or project management.
- Professional or technical background in climate risk, resilience, mitigation, adaptation planning, climate policy, enterprise risk management, and/or corporate sustainability.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, research, written communication, verbal communication, relationship‑building, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project teams, coordinate with internal teams and external vendors or contractors, deliver client‑ready work products with limited supervision, and collaborate with leadership to create, refine, and scale effective offerings.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to work in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office.
- Management consulting experience with a large consulting firm.
- Sector experience in real estate, healthcare, consumer packaged goods, agriculture, apparel, logistics, packaging, or other climate‑exposed industries.
- Professional Engineering certification and/or specialized experience in facilities management and building systems, energy or civil infrastructure, site inspection, permitting, and construction oversight.
- Experience integrating climate risks and sustainability activities into corporate risk management activities and/or enterprise risk management.
- Demonstrated success in business development, proposal development, offering design, or growth of a consulting service area.
- Familiarity with insurance considerations related to climate risk, including insured and uninsured exposure, asset insurability, and the potential impacts of climate hazards on insurance availability, pricing, and coverage.
The annual salary range for this position is $113,000.00-$188,000.00.
