To thrive as a Climate Risk Insurance professional, you need expertise in risk assessment, climate science, and insurance principles, often supported by a degree in finance, environmental science, or actuarial studies. Familiarity with modeling software, data analytics platforms, and relevant industry certifications like Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) is typically required. This dynamic environment requires adaptability, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to ongoing learning.

What is climate risk insurance?

Climate risk insurance is a type of insurance product designed to protect individuals, businesses, or governments against financial losses caused by climate-related events, such as floods, hurricanes, droughts, or wildfires. It works by providing payouts or coverage when certain climate-triggered conditions are met, helping policyholders recover from disasters more quickly. This insurance is increasingly important as climate change leads to more frequent and severe weather events, and it can also incentivize risk reduction strategies.

Are you a seasoned claims professional with a passion for complex financial lines and a drive to deliver exceptional client experiences? At Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, we're looking for a sharp, collaborative, and client-focused specialist to join our dynamic US Casualty and Financial Lines Claims team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two claims are the same, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for!

About the Role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of financial lines claims - from directors and officers liability to fiduciary and employment practices - while working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry. You'll bring your expertise to bear from first notice all the way through to resolution, all while collaborating across underwriting, products, and international teams to deliver market-leading outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively manage a portfolio of directors and officers, fiduciary, and/or employment practices liability claims with full end-to-end adjudication responsibility
  • Navigate confidently across both primary and excess insurance claim environments, applying sound judgment and technical expertise
  • Collaborate closely with customers and brokers to achieve the most advantageous and timely claim resolutions
  • Partner with the Operations team to ensure effective claim administration, process efficiency, and accurate data integrity
  • Engage proactively with Client Markets teams and support business development efforts through client meetings and industry events
  • Deliver high-level analysis of claims portfolio results, identifying trends and providing actionable insights to the business
  • Contribute to product development by reviewing, supporting, and assisting in the creation of policy wordings and tailored client solutions
  • Liaise with Actuarial, Finance, and Risk Management colleagues to share information and support the holistic management of claims, clients, and risks
  • Represent Swiss Re Corporate Solutions at industry conferences, client events, and professional society functions, promoting our brand and capabilities
  • Collaborate with international colleagues across regions, providing valuable insight into US trends and exposures
