Job description

About this role:

As a General Surgeon at Cedar City Hospital, youll help establish a new employed general surgery practice alongside another experienced surgeon. In this role, youll practice in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, maintaining a balanced mix of clinic and operating room time while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across a broad range of general surgery conditions. This role includes coordinating pre- and post-operative care and utilizing a full spectrum of surgical approaches, including minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopic and robotic surgery, as well as traditional methods.

  • Typical schedule includes two clinic days and two OR days per week
  • Shared call coverage with expectations dependent on team size
  • Opportunity to discuss additional clinical interests, with emphasis on maintaining balanced case volumes

What youll bring:

  • MD or DO degree from a fully accredited medical or osteopathic school of medicine
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery
  • ACGME-accredited residency training in General Surgery
  • Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Healths credentialing process

Life in Cedar City, Utah

The population of Cedar City is approximately 40,000. The area has recently experienced major population growth, and the trend is expected to continue. The area is known for its breathtaking scenery and is the gateway to the nations largest concentration of national parks. Recreational activities for the entire family include camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing and mountain biking. There is a moderate four-season climate, and during winter months residents can ski in the morning and play golf in nearby communities in the afternoon. Educational opportunities are available through Utah Tech University and Southern Utah University (SUU). Summer activities include the Utah Summer Games and the Utah Shakespeare Festival, recipient of the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre.
