Job description

MSCI is expanding its Sustainability & Climate Client Specialist team and seeking a candidate to join our San Francisco office. As part of a team that leads the industry in providing Sustainability & Climate research to institutional investors globally, you will manage relationships across a territory of clients that includes some of the world's largest financial institutions.

In this role, you'll develop deep expertise in MSCI's Sustainability & Climate products alongside a strong understanding of each client's business and investment processes. You'll use this knowledge to help clients apply our solutions across asset classes, delivering insight and best practices that support their goals. Success in this role is measured by account renewal rates, proactive client management and communication, contract value growth, and pre-sales collaboration with the sales and client service teams.  Once a client begins using MSCI products, the Client Specialist owns the client experience — providing proactive education, domain expertise, and support throughout the relationship, including the renewal process.


  • Serve as the domain expert on MSCI's Sustainability suite of products, and master client objectives for integrating our solutions
  • Manage client inquiries and issue resolution using Salesforce, Gainsight and other internal tools in partnership with Client Service team
  • Monitor and ensure client satisfaction through projects and initiatives
  • Achieve renewal and retention targets by managing a dedicated portfolio of accounts across finance segments such as insurance, asset management, and asset owners
  • Drive revenue growth through outstanding service, proactive engagement, and relationship-building
  • Partner with the Sales, and Client Service Specialist team to identify at-risk accounts, forecast risk, and develop retention plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Develop and drive account management plans for clients
  • Conduct regular account health checks
  • Identify and communicate upsell opportunities to the sales team
  • Build subject-matter expertise to support pre-sales, upsell, and training activities
  • Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams such as Product and Research & Development on key client initiatives
  • Be available to pursue some client focused business travel across the US West Coast

  • Strong organizational, presentation, and communication skills are essential
  • An innovative, motivated, client-oriented, and commercially aware mindset
  • Ability to manage projects and multitask independently
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to manage the expectations of a diverse and demanding client base
  • Uncompromising personal and business integrity
  • 5+ years of experience, ideally in a client-facing role within financial services or sustainability
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Interest in developing strong working relationships with external clients, with exposure to sustainable investing or finance preferred
  • Developing understanding and/or willingness to leverage AI tools and techniques into day to day workflows
