Climate Data Analytics information

What are the main challenges faced by professionals working in climate data analytics, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in climate data analytics often encounter challenges such as working with large, complex datasets from diverse sources, ensuring data accuracy, and translating analytical findings into actionable insights for stakeholders. To address these challenges, it's important to develop strong programming skills, stay current with data processing tools, and maintain rigorous data validation protocols. Collaboration with climate scientists, policy experts, and IT professionals is also key to ensuring the analysis is both scientifically robust and relevant to decision-making.

What is climate data analytics?

Climate data analytics is the process of collecting, processing, and interpreting large volumes of climate and weather-related data to identify patterns, trends, and insights. Professionals in this field use statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization tools to study factors such as temperature changes, precipitation, extreme weather events, and greenhouse gas emissions. The insights gained help inform policy decisions, support climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, and improve weather forecasting. This field is important for governments, businesses, and researchers aiming to understand and address the impacts of climate change.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a climate data analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Climate Data Analyst, you need a solid background in environmental science, statistics, and data analysis, often supported by a relevant degree such as environmental science, meteorology, or data science. Familiarity with programming languages (like Python or R), GIS software, and climate modeling tools is typically required, along with experience in handling large datasets. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills help analysts interpret complex data and convey findings to diverse audiences. These skills are crucial for generating accurate climate insights that inform policy, research, and sustainability initiatives.

About this role
The Senior Manager, Digital Product Management will define and lead the digital roadmap for our Data Center cooling portfolio. This role is responsible for embedding digital capabilities - including telemetry, analytics, controls integration, and platform interoperability - into mission-critical cooling systems.
This is a product management role first. The ideal candidate is a practiced PM who owns roadmaps, drives customer discovery, aligns cross-functional teams, and ships products - and brings that craft to a domain they know well: data center infrastructure. You will shape how cooling infrastructure evolves into connected, intelligent, and energy-aware systems aligned to hyperscale and colocation expectations.
Reports directly to Head of Products, DPX.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Platform Strategy
  • Define the multi-year digital strategy for Data Center cooling systems, spanning:
    • Embedded telemetry and edge intelligence
    • Cloud-based monitoring and diagnostics
    • Predictive performance analytics
    • Optimization and control strategies
    • API-driven integration frameworks
  • Establish digital architecture and data requirements to ensure scalability and interoperability.
  • Embed digital capabilities into new product development from early concept phases.

Data Center Market & Segment Leadership
  • Translate data center operational requirements into product strategy, including redundancy models (N, N+1, 2N), commissioning timelines, high-density rack deployments, and liquid/hybrid cooling architectures.
  • Define digital differentiation across hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and edge segments.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking focused on digital maturity and ecosystem positioning.
  • Support strategic customer engagements where digital capabilities influence infrastructure decisions.

Competitive Digital Differentiation
  • Define how digital capabilities improve uptime visibility, operational performance, service enablement, and lifecycle optimization.
  • Identify and develop monetizable digital services aligned to cooling infrastructure.
  • Establish KPIs tied to digital adoption, utilization, and service expansion.

Energy & Infrastructure Convergence
  • Identify where cooling systems intersect with PUE optimization, load balancing, energy visibility, and grid-aware operational strategies.
  • Develop roadmap elements supporting energy-aware cooling solutions.
  • Align digital strategy with broader infrastructure and energy initiatives.

Investment & Portfolio Leadership
  • Develop structured business cases tied to revenue growth and lifecycle value.
  • Recommend build, partner, or acquisition pathways to accelerate capability development.
  • Provide clear roadmap updates and investment recommendations to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in data center infrastructure, mission-critical cooling, and/or precision HVAC environments.
  • 5+ years of hands-on product management experience owing a roadmap, defining requirements, and driving products from concept through launch in a B2B or enterprise context.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience working with hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center operators.
  • Experience participating in system-level architecture discussions, deployments, or commissioning activities.
  • Demonstrated experience shaping product strategy beyond sustaining lifecycle management.
  • Experience integrating physical systems with digital platforms, controls, or monitoring ecosystems.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Experience with liquid cooling architectures or high-density AI deployments.
  • Experience competing in or against major data center infrastructure providers.
  • Familiarity with DCIM platforms, BMS/BAS integrations, or digital monitoring ecosystems.
  • Experience launching new offerings in mission-critical markets.

The annual salary for this position is between $117,500.00 - $234,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
