What is The Opportunity?

Join our Retail Credit technology team to drive the modernization of enterprise risk systems and climate data initiatives. You'll lead business and data analysis for our Climate Data Strategy and Innovation Technology portfolio-a strategic initiative to source data from multiple data sources - internal and external to RBC, build a robust storage framework, and enable advanced data modeling across the organization.

This role bridges business requirements and technology delivery, ensuring climate risk and data strategy projects translate complex requirements into actionable solutions for development and QA teams.

What Will You Do?

  • Lead all Data and Systems analysis activities for the Climate Data Risk & Strategy projects portfolio
  • Develop detailed knowledge of current-state data feeds for Climate Risk Data Stores and Climate Data Hub, working across PCAF Asset Classes (Residential Real Estate, Commercial Real Estate, Sovereign Debt, Project Finance, Listed Equity, Corporate Bonds, Business Loans, and Unlisted Equities)
  • Design and implementpipelines for data extraction, transformation, and storage while ensuring data consistency, lineage, andmetadata managementto support regulatory and governance needs.
  • Determine and map data transformation rules to standardize feeds from multiple sources into Climate Risk engines and Data Stores
  • Collaborate with business users to elicit data requirements and demonstrate system functionality
  • Create functional, non-functional and data specifications and conduct complex data analysis using AI/LLM models
  • Partner with development and QA teams to validate design assumptions, explain requirements, and create test cases and support UAT
  • Work with ESG & Risk Analytics teams to build data assets, models and calculation engines to produce Risk Metrics used in RBC Climate Risk Disclosures and to track RBC's exposure to Physical Risk

What You Need to Succeed?

Must Have:

  • 5+ years as a Data Engineer or Analyst, or in a technical/functional/consulting role in software development
  • Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas), 'pySpark' and SQL for complex data analysis
  • Ability with data catalogues, data modeling, and business process modeling and experience working on data projects using Agile methodologies (sourcing, standardization, and aggregation)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to document requirements, write specifications, and present findings to business and technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Sciences, Technology, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or related quantitative field

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of climate data initiatives and ESG investment policies/frameworks for financial institutions
  • Experience supporting developers with technology stacks such as Linux, Hadoop, Hive, and Spark
  • Exposure to using AI/LLM models embedded in tools such as Windsurf and Github Co-Pilot - AI-powered agentic coding assistants for analytical purposes
  • Experience with data in the finance, banking, or insurance industries
