Overview / Responsibilities

GIS Analyst Internship

Wood is currently recruiting for a GIS Analyst Intern to join our Water Resources and Technology Services team.  The position supports data analysis and mapping on a variety of projects for public and private sector clients, particularly for water resources and environmental sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform GIS database development, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and mapping as directed by various water resources (including floodplain mapping) and environmental services project team members.
  • Produce detailed, high-quality cartographic products (digital and hardcopy) and accompanying reports as directed and in accordance with technical guidelines
  • Communicate with project team members to clearly define data needs, project requirements, and desired outputs
  • Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including public domain, field collection, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps
  • Perform regular quality control checks of GIS Data and non-spatial databases with supervision to ensure data integrity

  • Working towards BA/BS in GIS, Geography or related field
  • Proficiency using ESRI ArcGIS software
