Summary Job Description:

Monrovia in Dayton, Oregon is currently seeking a candidate to fill the role of Maintenance Electrician Craftsman. In this hands-on role, the Maintenance Craftsman is responsible for the maintenance and repair for all equipment, buildings, greenhouses and irrigation pumps, including trouble shooting and repair of high and low voltage electrical systems for a 600-acre wholesale nursery production operation. The Maintenance Electrician Craftsman will report directly to our Facilities Maintenance Manager (Coach).

Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed, with reasonable accommodations, to support the Monrovia Nursery organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Trouble-shoot and repair machines and equipment: motors, controls, irrigation pumps and repair plumbing problems, electrical systems, trouble-shoot light hydraulic and pneumatic system problems.

2.Maintenance and repair for all buildings, greenhouses, water pumps and equipment (excluding vehicles).

3.Oversee electrical repair by contractors and/or employees, ensuring that quality, safety, and budget targets are met.

4.Develop and lead innovative process improvements.

5.Act as the strategic business partner and a key technical resource to other members of the local leadership team and key business units.

6.Effectively plan and coordinate the purchase of materials, supplies and equipment necessary for the operation and maintenance of the physical plant.

7.Promote strong relationships with vendors, industry groups and community to promote the Monrovia Brand and to establish a strong industry network.

8.Ensure a safe working environment in all aspects of our Maintenance and Repair operations.

9.Ensure that all department activities are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

10. Lead by example the implementation of Monrovia's vision of Total Quality Management.

Qualifications/Knowledge Required:

  • Possess an Oregon recognized Electrical License.

  • Able to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Must have a basic knowledge of power transmission: v-belts, chains, gear-boxes.

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, irrigation plumbing, water pumps, water purification systems, greenhouse climate control and heating/cooling systems.

  • Must have good math and basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel).

  • Must have a valid Oregon Driver's License.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Must be available to work the following schedule:

    Monday- Friday- 7:30am to 5pm.

    Additional hours as necessary
