Ready to shape the climate strategies of the worldโ€™s most influential companies?
As a Consulting Director, Climate Change at ERM, youโ€™ll lead highโ€‘impact advisory work that directly influences how global organizations navigate the lowโ€‘carbon transition. If you want to drive meaningful change, steer strategy at the executive level, and grow a thriving climate practiceโ€”this role puts you at the center of it all.

Why This Role Matters

ERM partners with Fortune 500 companies and major global institutions to define, operationalize, and accelerate their climate ambitions. As a Consulting Director, Climate Change based in Boston, MA, youโ€™ll be a strategic leader advancing ERMโ€™s rapidly growing climate change portfolio. This role is critical to guiding clients through complex challengesโ€”GHG accounting, scenario analysis, target setting, policy landscapes, and longโ€‘term decarbonization strategyโ€”while driving business growth and mentoring the next generation of climate advisors.

If youโ€™re motivated by highโ€‘stakes climate strategy work, energized by client impact, and aligned with ERMโ€™s core values of accountability, collaboration, and passionโ€”this is your opportunity to lead with purpose.

What Your Impact Is

Serve as a trusted advisor shaping climate strategy, disclosure, and action plans for major companies across energy, utilities, technology, finance, and industrial sectors.

Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically rigorous, insightโ€‘driven analysis that simplifies complexity and influences executive decisionโ€‘making.

Advance ERMโ€™s climate consulting capabilities by designing solutions, evolving service offerings, and collaborating across global teams.

Drive commercial growth through strategic client engagement, business development initiatives, and expansion of ERMโ€™s climate advisory presence in North America.

  • 10+ years of experience in climate change consulting or a closely related sector.
  • Strong expertise in climate and energy policy, regulatory frameworks, and GHG management.
  • Experience evaluating emissions reduction pathways, lowโ€‘carbon technologies, and climate policy impacts.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical capability, and ability to synthesize technical and market data.
  • Proven project leadership including scoping, budgeting, client communication, and delivery oversight.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders across diverse sectors.
  • Excellent communication skillsโ€”written, verbal, negotiation, and presentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership in building, coaching, and mentoring highโ€‘performing teams.
  • Flexibility, initiative, attention to detail, and commitment to highโ€‘quality work.
Preferred
  • Masterโ€™s degree or Professional Engineer credential.
  • Knowledge of lowโ€‘carbon scenario frameworks (IEA, NGFS) and financialโ€‘sector targetโ€‘setting approaches (NZBA, PCAF).
  • Familiarity with U.S. EPA regulations related to methane and GHG emissions in the oil & gas sector.
  • Understanding of U.S., Canadian, and international regulatory drivers and climate policy trends.
  • Experience influencing senior decisionโ€‘makers and navigating dynamic market conditions.
Key ResponsibilitiesManaging Clients & Projects
  • Lead and advise on climate-related projects including GHG inventories, emissions reduction strategies, renewable energy pathways, and policy assessments.
  • Conduct policy and technical analyses with deep understanding of climate and energy regulations.
  • Support development of climate strategies, action plans, and decarbonization modeling.
  • Build and grow client relationships that drive significant revenue growth aligned with ERMโ€™s global strategy.
  • Provide strategic counsel that influences executive decisionโ€‘making and longโ€‘term planning.
  • Translate complex technical information into actionable insights for clients and internal teams.
  • Oversee full project lifecycle including scoping, staffing, budgeting, and quality delivery.

  • Lead, mentor, and coach junior consultants and project teams.
  • Manage team performance, engagement, and development.
  • Build partnerships with senior clients, external stakeholders, and thought leaders.
  • Collaborate across ERM practices and regions to deliver integrated climate solutions.
  • Enhance ERMโ€™s climate change service offerings and market presence.

  • Support Account Management teams in achieving annual sales targets.
  • Lead or contribute to proposal development, client pitches, and pursuit strategies.
  • Identify and cultivate opportunities in the evolving lowโ€‘carbon transition market.
