This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who can provide bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, and accounting support. As a Client Service Accountant, you will work with multiple clients across different industries to help business owners understand financial information, improve processes, and make informed decisions.

Additionally, as a part of the Client Service Accountant group, you will:

  • Work with small to mid-size businesses in a variety of industries, which encourages new challenges and opportunities to learn.
  • Build strong client relationships with business owners, allowing you to become a trusted accounting resource
  • Grow your expertise in your role with bookkeeping, payroll, financial planning, and client advisory services.


What You'll Do

  • Manage accounting responsibilities for a portfolio of roughly 15-25 clients
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and provide ongoing bookkeeping support to clients.
  • Review transactions, investigate accounting issues, and ensure financial information is recorded properly.
  • Prepare financial statements, monthly reports, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Process payroll for clients and help with payroll tax filings.
  • Provide practical solutions for clients' accounting questions.
  • Partner with clients and colleagues across AHP's Michigan offices to understand client needs, enhance processes, and provide outstanding service.
  • Support clients in a variety of industries such as Not-for-Profit, Government, Financial Institutions, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Medical, and many more.

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of recent payroll, accounting, and bookkeeping experience.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a business-related field is preferred; however, relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals, including debits, credits, and financial statement impact.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and monthly accounting reports.
  • Proficiency with payroll processing and payroll tax filings is preferred.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, or similar accounting software.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills to provide excellent client service.
