Job description

The Associate HR Business Partner works with the People & Culture (P&C) team and business leaders to meet the needs of ESPN’s employee population and support HR/P&C and business initiatives. The main responsibilities of this position include assisting in the day-to-day execution of People & Culture deliverables and the resolution of issues within assigned ESPN client groups. This is a fast-paced, customer service-oriented role which interacts directly with employees of various levels and functions across client groups, the Business Partner team, and Centers of Excellence. Individuals in this role typically work independently with oversight and guidance from their leader. This role reports to the Director, HRBP.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees/assists in the day-to-day delivery of People & Culture services and the resolution of issues to assigned client groups; will work directly with leaders and employees and will partner with BPs of other client groups.
  • Assists employees with interpretation of routine matters involving HR policies and procedures.
  • Interacts with client managers and staff to ensure full understanding of and compliance with applicable approved Human Resources policies and procedures; advises leaders and employees and encourages openness, trust, appreciation and respect in the workplace.
  • Applies business knowledge to recognize needs and spot emerging trends, using critical thinking to uncover and examine issues to suggest alternative ideas
  • Coordinates and partners with other P&C professionals to implement People & Culture projects and initiatives with company-wide impact across the enterprise.
  • Operates effectively with minimal supervision on routine matters and with closer supervision on more complex matters; escalates issues as needed.
  • Assists with maintaining employee system records and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Supports employees during their onboarding and offboarding experiences, addressing employee concerns, and mediating workplace disputes.
  • Build strong connections by being responsive, reliable, curious, and self-aware.
  • Helps manage change by adapting to moving priorities and finding creative solutions
  • Participates on project teams.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources or an equivalent field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve issues or problems by analyzing trends and various factors, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and communicating and/or implementing recommendations in support of goals and maintaining compliance.
  • Ability to integrate and initiate the work with key stakeholders and functional partners to ensure appropriate solutions are delivered to the organization.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of judgment and discretion and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to instill trust and influence while understanding the impact of your own actions.
  • Ability and willingness to establish and maintain communication and working relationships with peers, representatives from other teams and segments across The Walt Disney Company and ESPN using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
  • Fosters a positive environment and participates in open dialogue while valuing differences.
  • Helps with change by adapting to changing priorities and being resourceful
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understands most employee lifecycle HR activities within: Organizational Development, Talent & Growth, Talent Connection, Total Rewards, Opportunity & Inclusion, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations and uses knowledge daily.
  • Proficient in analyzing HR metrics and trends, interpreting data, and acting as a consultant to recommend solutions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, Workday, and SAP.
  • Proficient knowledge of modern principles, methods, and practices in human resources.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Strategic mindset to contribute effectively to the human resources department
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in Connecticut is $87,200.00 to $106,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
