Job description

ABOUT METRO MARKET MEDIA

Metro Market Media is a leader in local media and marketing solutions, dedicated to helping our communities stay informed and connected. Our portfolio includes The Times of Gainesville, Forsyth County News, Dawson County News, specialty publications, and our popular “Best of” awards and events. We are proud of the role we play in our communities, and we are equally proud of the team culture we have built around a shared set of values.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Account Executive is an outside sales professional responsible for selling advertising space and digital marketing solutions to local businesses across Forsyth County. This is a quota-carrying, field-based sales role focused on growing revenue through new business development, account retention, and account expansion across our print, digital, mobile, and specialty publication products.

Account Executives spend the majority of their time in the field — prospecting, conducting in-person sales calls, presenting advertising proposals, and closing deals with decision-makers at local businesses. This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager and works closely with internal creative, digital, and editorial teams to deliver advertising campaigns that produce measurable results for clients.

OUR CULTURE & CORE VALUES

At Metro Market Media, we hire, develop, and recognize team members against a clearly defined set of core values. These values are not aspirational language — they are the standard by which we evaluate fit, performance, and growth. The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate:

  • Be Honest — Act with integrity and show authenticity — even when it’s hard.
  • Stay Curious — Seek fresh thinking, ask smart questions, and pursue learning.
  • All In, Every Time — Focus on details, take ownership, and go above and beyond.
  • We Before Me — Work collaboratively, offer help, and lead with kindness.
  • Win Together, Grow Together — Deliver results, put customers first, and fuel growth.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success in this role is measured by consistent revenue performance, a growing book of business, and durable client relationships. Specifically:

  • Consistently meeting or exceeding assigned monthly and quarterly advertising sales quotas.
  • A growing book of business that balances new advertiser acquisition with retention and expansion of existing accounts.
  • High client retention and renewal rates driven by responsive service and campaigns that deliver measurable results.
  • A full, accurate, and well-maintained sales pipeline in the CRM with clear visibility into forecast accuracy.
  • Multi-product advertising packages sold across print, digital, mobile, and specialty publications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Account Executive’s responsibilities span three core areas: advertising sales and new business development, client and campaign management, and market presence.

Advertising Sales & New Business Development

  • Sell advertising space and integrated marketing solutions across print, digital, mobile, and specialty publication products to local businesses throughout Northeast Georgia.
  • Prospect, qualify, and develop new advertiser accounts through cold calling, in-person visits, networking, referrals, and territory research.
  • Meet or exceed assigned monthly and quarterly sales quotas through disciplined activity, pipeline management, and consistent closing.
  • Present and sell advertising proposals to business owners, marketing decision-makers, and key stakeholders through in-person meetings and presentations.
  • Negotiate advertising rates, contract terms, and renewal agreements in line with company pricing and policy guidelines.
  • Manage and grow a diverse book of business, maintaining accurate prospect and account records within the CRM system.

Client & Campaign Management

  • Develop customized advertising campaigns for clients using a multi-product mix of digital, print, mobile, and specialty publications.
  • Collaborate with internal creative, digital, and editorial teams to execute advertising campaigns that achieve client objectives.
  • Monitor campaign performance, report results back to clients, and proactively identify opportunities to expand the relationship.
  • Ensure ongoing client satisfaction through responsive communication, regular check-ins, and consultative service.
  • Provide regular sales reports and pipeline updates to the Regional Sales Manager.

Market Presence & Professional Development

  • Attend community events, networking functions, and client meetings to strengthen brand visibility, generate leads, and build partnerships.
  • Stay informed about advertising trends, local market conditions, and competitor activity to position Metro Market Media’s products effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Sales Manager to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

What You’ll Need

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of outside sales, advertising sales, media sales, or B2B sales experience, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding quota.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, close new business, and grow existing accounts in a quota-carrying sales role.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing platforms, including Google Ads, Analytics, and social media advertising.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Self-motivated, with strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in the field.
  • Demonstrated alignment with our core values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience selling advertising in local media, digital, or multi-product environments.
  • Experience using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) to manage a sales pipeline.
