Job description

Adult & Teen Challenge of NEW INC. is seeking a part-time Direct Care Staff / Weekend Over Night to support a faith-based, 12-month residential rehabilitation program.

Position Summary

The Direct Care Staff / Weekend Over Night supervises clients during daily duties and activities in accordance with the programโ€™s structure, policies, and spiritual mission. This role works under the direction of the Program Director to help create a safe, supportive environment that encourages personal growth and recovery.

You will serve as a mentor and role model for clients by maintaining appropriate boundaries, supporting spiritual care when requested, and ensuring accurate documentation of shift activities and behavioral incidents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise clients throughout the shift, including daily routines, lights out, morning wakeups, and related cleanup and devotions.

  • Assist with client intake and discharge support and monitor self-administration of prescription medication, non-prescription medication, and vitamins using required documentation practices.

  • Build healthy relationships with clients while maintaining professional boundaries, offering firmness and direction while pointing clients toward their personal goals.

  • Provide spiritual care as requested, which may include praying with clients, leading devotions, and/or assisting with memorization of Bible passages.

  • Complete required records, including logs, inventories, Incident Reports, discipline documentation, and medication log updates with dosage, times, and signatures.

  • Safely transport clients to program functions, appointments, and outside activities while maintaining a driving record acceptable to the organizationโ€™s insurance carrier.

  • Help maintain facility security through regular security checks and document findings as required; complete room searches and contraband documentation when instructed.

  • Assist with client drug and/or alcohol testing when instructed, and document results; perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or senior management.

  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and mentor individuals with life-controlling problems, including the capacity to manage difficult or emotional situations.

  • Ability to interpret Bible verses and apply biblical knowledge appropriately to each clientโ€™s individual needs, including willingness and ability to pray with clients and staff when needed.

  • Strong servant-leadership skills in both one-on-one and group settings, with the ability to confront behavior effectively while maintaining professionalism.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, keep emotions under control, handle crisis-like situations, and follow established policies and procedures.

  • Ability to remain on task and follow through with multiple concurrent assignments despite frequent interruptions and changing circumstances.
