PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the Manager, Retail in overseeing the daily operations (game day and non-game day) of all Progressive Field retail souvenir stands in a seasonal, part-time capacity. This role is expected to maximize sales revenue, lead sales teammates, and promote a positive image of the Cleveland Guardians organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Selling/Fan Satisfaction
  • Drive merchandise stand sales results by delegating tasks to Retail Leads.
  • Act as a role model for the START and HEART service models and suggestive selling for retail gameday teammates.
  • Maintain the "Image of Champions" to maximize sales opportunities and ensure fan satisfaction.
  • Communicate daily tracking and planning of sales to Retail Leads to promote ownership of their respective store location.
  • Utilize and analyze game day sales reports to identify areas of growth and manage tracking of sales contests.
  • Understand jersey customization processes with ability to complete and train others.

Human Resources
  • Assist in hiring, training, and developing retail gameday teammates.
  • Work to keep the store team engaged via sales contest planning and execution.
  • Effectively delegate tasks as needed to sales teams to ensure company standards are being met.
  • Oversee teammate check in process on game days and communicate any attendance issues effectively to Retail management team.

Merchandising
  • Ensure stand appearance and stockrooms are organized and maintained to company standards
  • Ensure recovery of retail locations (re-stocking, sizing, "pinch & pull", general cleanliness).
  • Ensure markdowns and consolidations are completed timely and accurately (including stockrooms).
  • Based on research, communicate merchandising needs/opportunities to Retail Operations and Buying team.

Operations/Loss Prevention
  • Assist in the proper scheduling of store teammates to support the needs of the business through ABI MasterMind systems.
  • Assist in the control of the budget for payroll, based on sales and trends.
  • Assist in managing controllable operational expenses (supplies, maintenance, etc.)
  • Understand and perform all management functions on the POS system, backroom PC, ABI, Teamwork Commerce, and EXO .
  • Understand POS troubleshooting procedures and ways to find solutions partnering with Teamwork Commerce, EXO, and internal IS Team.
  • Lead inventory control processes; receiving, product distribution, transfers, cycle counts, damages, MOSs, year-end physical inventory.
  • Understanding and coaching of internal/external loss prevention methods.
  • Oversee closing procedures for all retail locations.
  • Prepare stands for the season and close down at the end of the season.
  • Assist with in-park Game Used auction processes as needed.
  • Additional projects/responsibilities as assigned by the Retail management team

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Desire for a career in retail/people management
  • Computer knowledge including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office.
  • Demonstrated management and planning skills.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Robust communication skills that can be applied to engage effectively with both teammates and fans.
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for an entire shift.
  • Capability to frequently bend, stoop, reach and lift.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Available to work a minimum of 85% of all home games (95%) during the months of April through October based on job responsibilities and workload.
  • Available to work 100% of Jewel Events and Post Season Games
  • Game-day hour requirement: minimum of 2.5 hours prior to gates open and 1-hour post game as dictated by job responsibilities and workload (limited to no more than 40 hours per week).
  • Work entire assigned shift, this includes but not limited to pre-events, post events, and rain delays
    • Gamedays: Minimum of 2.5 hours prior to gates open and 1-hour post game as dictated by job responsibilities and workload (limited to no more than 40 hours per week).
    • Non-gamedays: Hours compliant with front office hours, working up to 5 days and up to 40 hours per week, based on job responsibilities and workload.
  • Work long and irregular hours including nights, weekends, and all holidays during the baseball season
  • Attend all required trainings and daily briefings, as directed
