Electrical Engineer - Cleveland-Cliffs

Location: Rockport, IN

Cleveland-Cliffs, Rockport Works has an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Engineer. The Electrical Engineer demonstrates a broad grasp of the technical and administrative aspects of electrical engineering techniques and principles. Projects assigned are complex, involve multiple variables, and can be cross-functional. Individuals in this role prepare effective communications across the organization and aid in problem resolution specific to assigned programs/projects.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Develop solutions and implement projects that improve the process and focus on providing electrical and programming logic expertise
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot programming, electrical and process issues
  • Must be able to create and modify programming logic systems and code to support and improve the process
  • Conduct tests to confirm necessary programming and equipment changes
  • Must possess the ability to work with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other technical resources in a group and then drive results
  • Analyze and modify blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems
  • Must have the ability to lead and/or monitor the electrical work of outside contractors (e.g. electrical system upgrades, expansions, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that the projects are satisfactory and completed in a timely manner
  • Complete project responsibilities for design, specification, review and development of electrical equipment or systems. Should have a working knowledge of industrial wiring, controls, and instrumentation
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related degree
  • Working knowledge of PLC and HMI setup and programming
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC drives troubleshooting and setup
  • Working knowledge of tuning and calibration of PID loops and controls
  • General knowledge about networking
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex process problems
  • Ability to self-learn new hardware / software platforms
  • Must be able to work in a multi-level organization which operates 24/7
  • Must have the ability to work effectively within a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to manage several projects at a time and make timely and accurate decisions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, computer skills and data analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ideal candidates will have two or more years of related experience in manufacturing
  • PLC design, programming, installation and troubleshooting experience
  • Siemens PLC Series 5/7 is a plus
  • Experience with Siemens Masterdrives
  • Experience with IBA PDA
  • In-depth knowledge of power distribution equipment
