Job Summary: The Floor Care Technician will be responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surfaces and carpet (including stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting). Provides superior cleaning services onsite at locations under limited supervision and works in a collaborative relationship with other Building Maintenance team members. It will be essential that the Floor Care Technician supports and integrates Sizemore's core values of Flexibility, Improvement, Reliability, Safety and Teamwork into the daily performance of assigned responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Handles hard floor care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), scrubbing, and buffing on hard surfaces.
  • Provides carpet maintenance, including but not limited to vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting and extracting carpets.
  • Provides other cleaning services, such as dusting, routine restroom and other area cleaning.
  • Operates all floor care machines and cleaning products safely and in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
  • Follows all safety requirements and procedures at all times.
  • Reports to work as scheduled and on time, and accurately reports time worked through the phone timekeeping systems.
  • Interacts respectfully with customers and personnel.
  • Checks that all equipment is in working order and that all necessary materials and equipment are available, including safety signs, tapes, and cones, and immediately informs supervisor of any equipment problems or shortages.
  • Follows instructions on specific cleaning projects completed each shift.
  • Reports all work-related injuries to supervisor on the date of occurrence.
  • Immediately reports all falls or other injuries (including those of store customers and personnel) to supervisor and to any onsite store manager.
  • Reports store damage to supervisor immediately and cleans up as needed.
  • Keeps storage area organizing and supplied, and requests needed products through supervisor.
  • Uses caution in walking over wet surfaces during cleaning
  • After receiving training on floor waxing and products, the Lead technician assumes sole responsibility for applying wax.
  • Provides guidance on floor care and cleaning procedures to less-experienced Floor Care Technicians as needed.
  • Assists with other duties periodically, including floor stripping
  • Drives a culture of constant improvement, identifying and implementing changes to increase productivity and efficiency of service.
  • Enforces Sizemore's policies and procedures as needed.
  • Additional duties assigned, as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or recipient of GED
  • Some cleaning experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out simple instructions.
  • Ability to engage in respectful communications with coworkers, customers and store personnel.
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve superior results.
  • Ability to effectively manage time to accomplish the necessary tasks in the time allotted.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Working Conditions:
  • Ability to regularly lift 45 pounds.
  • Ability to push and pull floor cleaning equipment over concrete, tile and carpeted floors.
  • Must possess sufficient physical strength, ability and stamina to perform a variety of janitorial tasks related to care of floors.
  • Ability to work with a variety of cleaning products.
  • Ability to work night shift and/or very early morning hours as dictated by the needs of the position.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
