What You'll Do
No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:
- Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and helping them find what they need throughout the store
- Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the team
- Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers, and rotate product to ensure freshness
- Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and wrong deliveries, and report issues accordingly
- Organize stock for greatest efficiency and clean and restock any damaged items
- Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers
- Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input
- Operate the register for customer purchases as needed
- Stock supplies including cigarettes, front-end sacks, and department supplies
- Assist with outside maintenance including shoveling snow, spreading ice melt, and returning carts
- Help with cleaning throughout the store including registers, restrooms, breakroom, and backroom
- Train new stockers on job duties as needed
- Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
- Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
- You'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, and Service Managers
Your Skills

- Use basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
- Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way

- High school diploma or equivalent required; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred

- Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens in pharmacy roles involving dispensing medications or administering immunizations
- Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
