Job description

Position Summary:
Metal Fabrication Floater position is responsible for the precise cutting and deburring of metal components. This role involves operating various saws and deburring tools to ensure parts meet quality standards and specifications. The Saw Cut/Deburr technician will also assist with general fabrication tasks and maintain a clean and organized work area. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively with the fabrication team.
How You Will Do It:
  • Perform saw cutting operations on metal parts, including precision cuts with various types of saws such as band saws, chop saws, and circular saws.
  • Deburr metal parts manually or with powered tools, such as power disc sanders, rotary files, and automatic tumblers.
  • Operate hand tools and power equipment to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections on metal components.
  • Set up and operate basic machinery such as simple drill presses, tube sizing machines, and basic cutting tools.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of machinery used for tube forming, sizing, and bending.
  • Ensure that all cut parts meet quality standards and specifications before passing them to the next stage of production.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to adhere to safety protocols.
  • Regularly check and monitor tools and machines for safety and performance, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  • Assist with the handling and transport of materials, and occasionally may need to obtain forklift certification or in-house training for crane operation.
