Description:

The Day Floater plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the building throughout the day. Key responsibilities include dusting, spot vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning entryways, elevators, common areas, stairwells, hallways, restrooms (including restocking supplies), and maintaining the janitor’s closet. The Day Floater must be able to respond promptly and professionally to last-minute requests from Property Management, tenants, and Marquis management while ensuring a seamless transition for the evening cleaning team. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, flexibility, reliability, and a high level of professionalism. Additionally, the Day Floater must be available to assist with covering various positions at different locations throughout the day as business needs require.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, spot cleaning, and any other task assigned by the manager
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and replenishing supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.)
  • Empty trash cans around the building and dispose of waste in a safe and proper manner
  • Dust and wipe down furniture, windowsills, light fixtures, and other surfaces
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and handrails
  • Maintain cleanliness of entrance and exit areas, including sweeping walkways and removing debris
  • Ensure cleaning supplies and chemicals are used in accordance with safety guidelines and company policies
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Regional Manager
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ensure the building is kept safe from hazards such as slippery floors or blocked exit routes
  • Keep the Janitor's space in a neat and clean condition and maintain cleaning equipment in proper working condition
  • Adapt to changing policies, procedures, and/or duties as directed by management
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Skills:
  • Ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments, including indoors and outdoors (weather permitting)
  • Capable of using cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and floor scrubbers
