Mid Plains Catering is looking for a part-time, on-call, Catering & Event Preparation and Service person. This job is ideal for someone wanting to supplement their income or retirement. Hours are determined by event schedule. The position requires back-of-house logistical preparation and front-of-house guest interaction. While specific duties vary by event, the core goal is ensuring the event space is functional and guests receive high-quality hospitality.

Core Responsibilities

  • Event Preparation & Setup:
    • Assisting in food preparation, such as chopping ingredients, plating appetizers, or brewing coffee.
    • Setting up buffet lines, beverage stations, dining tables with linens, and place settings.
    • Reading and executing Event Preparation Sheets and floor plans to arrange tables, chairs, staging, and audiovisual equipment.
  • Guest Service & Execution:
    • Serving food and beverages (buffet, plated, or tray-passed) while maintaining knowledge of the event menu and dietary restrictions.
    • Greeting and directing guests to their designated areas or seats with a professional and friendly demeanor.
    • Anticipating guest needs and resolving issues promptly to ensure a smooth event flow.
  • Breakdown & Maintenance:
    • Clearing tables of used dishes and glassware during and after the meal.
