Job Summary:
The Inventory & Quality Control Specialist is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality, integrity, and accuracy of all produce and value-added items currently in stock and actively moving through the facility. This role ensures that products stored, staged, or prepared for repack and outbound orders meet company standards for quality and freshness, and that inventory records are kept accurate and up to date. The position supports internal operational flow by coordinating with the Repack, Production, Warehouse, and Purchasing teams to prevent quality issues, reduce shrink, and maintain real-time inventory accuracy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Quality Oversight (In-House Inventory)
  • Inspect in-house produce and value-added items stored in warehouse slots, coolers, and production staging areas for signs of spoilage, aging, or damage.
  • Perform quality checks on product prior to selection, repack, and outbound staging to ensure only acceptable product is moved forward.
  • Identify, document, and quarantine any product that no longer meets internal quality standards and communicate issues to Inventory and Purchasing teams.
  • Monitor aging inventory and execute proper product rotation using FIFO principles.
  • Support waste tracking and root-cause analysis for recurring quality issues.

Inventory Accuracy & Control
  • Conduct cycle counts, physical inventory audits, and spot-checks throughout the facility to ensure ongoing inventory accuracy.
  • Investigate inventory variances by tracing product movement across repack, staging, and production areas.
  • Assist with real-time updates and corrections to inventory records in the warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Support internal transfers, repack adjustments, and return to stock, ensuring all inventory activity is documented accurately.

Operational Support & Reporting
  • Communicate daily with Repack, Warehouse, and Purchasing teams to align on product condition, aging concerns, and inventory levels.
  • Generate quality control logs and inventory reports to support internal decision-making.
  • Escalate quality or inventory concerns in a timely manner to avoid disruptions to outbound service or repack production.

Facility Support & Equipment
  • Safely operate pallet jacks and/or forklifts to access or relocate product during quality or inventory checks.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and food-safe workspaces within the inspection and inventory control zones.
  • Follow all facility safety, sanitation, and food handling protocols.

  • 1-3 years of inventory control or quality control experience in a warehouse or production environment; fresh produce or perishable product experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify product degradation or inconsistency.
  • Working knowledge of FIFO rotation, slotting logic, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with WMS platforms and basic data entry/reporting tools (Excel, Google Sheets).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in refrigerated warehouse environments.
  • Effective communicator and team player, able to work across departments.
