POSITION SUMMARY

The primary responsibility for all positions with Paul's Ace Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. A Commercial-Contractor Sales Representative is responsible for developing new customers and maintaining existing customers within the commercial, contractor, business-to-business (B2B) and hardware markets to increase sales of products and/or services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communicate by phone, electronic communication, and in person with customers and leads to identify and understand their product or service needs; identify and suggest products and services to meet those needs.

Build and maintain a network of source outside of the company, from which to identify new sales leads.

Work with associates and management team to generate new business opportunities by marketing to and meeting with potential new business customers.

Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolving any issues that may arise post-sale in a positive manner.

Maintain communication with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products, services and enhancements that may be of interest.

Maintain positive communication with store's management and associates to provide knowledge and obtain knowledge of products and services.

Work with management to maintain relevant product assortment and depth, based on experience and customer needs.

Maintains detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

High School diploma or GED preferred. Should the employee not have their High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) consideration will be given should the employee provide proof of attaining diploma/degree.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales, Business, or related field OR Associates degree and at least 2 years of proven related experience OR at least 5 years of proven related experience, especially in the hardware industry.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, sales skills, negotiation skills, and analytical and problem-solving skills.

Able to process (read, count, write and accurately complete) information and documentation using Excel, Word, email, and a Point-of-Sale (POS) system.

Knowledge and experience of various departments is strongly desired and preferred.

Clean driving record and valid driver license must be maintained.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The minimum physical requirements for this position include:

Ability to stand for an extended period of time, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties.

Move and handle merchandise up to ten pounds, may occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that an associate may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
