Duties & Responsibilities:
(Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
  • Act as a first responder when students are in crisis and in need of adult support
  • Work with administration to create, implement, monitor and assess discipline policies and procedures
  • Assist with the de-escalation of students in crisis
  • Assist students with transitions from a crisis situation to successful re-entry into the classroom
  • Help students set academic, attendance and behavioral goals that support school success
  • Monitor student success toward completion of goals
  • Act as a liaison between students, families and the school for identified students
  • Regularly communicate with students, families and school personnel about student progress toward academic, attendance and behavioral goals
  • Help facilitate student intervention plans and maintain student records related to the plans
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records on academic, attendance and behavioral data for all identified students
  • Provides monitoring, supervision, and alternative activities for students removed from the classroom for disciplinary reasons
  • Promotes student involvement in extracurricular activities
  • Work a flexible schedule when needed to attend after school and evening events
  • Monitor students during unscheduled times and at lunch
  • Other duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -
  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
    • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
    • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
    • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
    • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
