General Description
The Orange County Solid Waste Management Department openings for a Solid Waste Collector Driver.The work involves the responsibility for collecting and transporting solid waste and/or recyclable materials from residential and commercial properties, which may include operating automated side loader, front-end loaders, rear loaders, and other vehicles that require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a Unit Supervisor with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, Supervision or acting as a leadworker may be a responsibility of this class depending on the assignment. Does related work as required.
This distinct classification requires a CDL Class B driver's license.

Full Performance of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency AND two (2) years of related experience in the operation of solid waste collection or sanitation vehicles.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the State of North Carolina.
All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of the FMCSA Clearinghouse and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required.
A Fitness for Duty Assessment is required.
