These drivers typically transport goods, materials, or passengers on local or regional routes. Unlike Class A CDL drivers, they do not operate combination vehicles like tractor-trailers. Company drivers are employees who receive regular wages and benefits from their employer, rather than being independent contractors.

Familiarity with GPS navigation, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and vehicle inspection systems is typically required. Reliability, good communication, and strong time management skills help drivers excel in customer service and meet delivery schedules. These skills and qualifications ensure safe transport, regulatory compliance, and efficient, on-time deliveries for the company.

Class B CDL company drivers often encounter challenges such as navigating urban traffic, adhering to strict delivery schedules, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. To manage these effectively, drivers should plan routes in advance, stay updated on traffic conditions, and practice defensive driving.
