Route Delivery Driver Role Overview

Safely operates PBV delivery vehicle and equipment to deliver product to customers in our Bulk, Small Format, On-Premise, and Dollar General distribution channels. The Route Delivery Driver will service the accounts along a designated route efficiently and effectively by delivering, unloading, and merchandising products in customer accounts according to PBV and customer standards, adhering to all company, state and federal safety and driving regulations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Conducts pre/post-trip inspection on truck according to DOT and promptly reports problems to the Fleet department.

  • Safely drives and maneuvers a truck having a gross vehicle weight of under or over 26,000 pounds.

  • Safely unloads product, ensuring proper check-in procedures.

  • Stocks shelves, racks, coolers, and displays, ensuring proper rotation.

  • Breaks down boxes and removes flat, damaged, and empty cases to ensure proper credit is given.

  • Obtains required signatures, store stamps, and invoices to ensure accurate settlement at the end of the day.

  • Settles all monies at the end of the day.

  • Follows all DOT and FMCSA regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Zero (0) to two (2) years of commercial driving experience with CDL preferred.

  • NC driver's license or applicable state license required.

  • Class A CDL required.

  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical prior to first day of employment.

  • Must be able to obtain a CDL permit by the 15th business day and 45 business days from their date of hire in which to obtain the license, if CDL is not currently held.

  • Must be able to perform basic financial calculations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Must be detail-oriented.

  • Must have a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.

  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.

  • Must have good organizational, prioritization, and decision-making skills.

  • Must be able to perform heavy physical labor for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to drive vehicle and operate forklift and pallet jacks.

  • Must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Must be able to successfully complete PBV driving test and meet driving standards.

  • Must be able to work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks.
