Job description

SUMMARY

The 4th Class Stationary Engineman holds a certificate of qualification issued by the province in which the work will be performed and has passed any required test. Their mandate is to manage the facility's systems, perform preventative maintenance, and provide routine and on-demand services on assigned facility equipment, in accordance with company policies and professional accreditation requirements. The Stationary Engineman is also responsible for performing work in accordance with established practices and procedures and for meeting internal and external requirements, including those for the environment, health and safety, and fire safety.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Building systems operations and maintenance

  • The 4th Class Stationary Engineman must conduct inspection rounds, record their observations and ensure that readings on equipment and gauges are in accordance with regulations, operating procedures and occupational health and safety standards.
  • The 4th Class Stationary Engineman performs troubleshooting to identify mechanical equipment problems. They must be creative to implement solutions to mechanical failures. The measures taken prevent damage to the plant and equipment, increased operating costs, and service interruption to clients.
  • Be analytical and have the ability to solve technical issues in the plant, as well as good teamwork skills.
  • Be thorough in complying with occupational health and safety rules.
  • Assist in updating a preventive maintenance plan.
  • Respond to occupants' service calls.
  • Perform general, preventative maintenance, develop and repair various building systems and components.
  • Inspect and check equipment (boiler, air compressor, water tests, etc.) daily.
  • Estimate the time and parts needed for the repair.
  • Comply with established standards.
  • Respond to emergencies for the proper functioning of operations.
  • Maintain and clean workspaces.
  • Perform any other duties related to the position's responsibilities.
