Role Summary

Austin Powder Company is looking to hire a Class 3 Driver/Operator. This is a local, home-nightly Monday through Friday role with no weekends. The position offers the opportunity to learn all aspects of safely handling explosives while supporting inventory, loading, unloading, transportation, and field operations at customer job sites and the local distribution center.

Responsibilities
  • Drive and operate Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMUs) and support product staging at customer job sites.

  • Inventory, load, unload, and transport product safely.

  • Maintain accurate daily records, including product usage and safety checks.

  • Read and interpret gauges and regulate them to correct standards.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the field as needed.

  • Follow safety procedures and comply with all applicable provincial and federal explosive laws.

  • Work actively in the field and assist with hands-on duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Valid Class 3 licence with a clean driving record.

  • Manual transmission required; unrestricted manual transmission operation is a plus.

  • Ability to meet Canadian requirements for all provincial and federal explosive laws and qualify as an ERD explosive possessor.

  • TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) certification is highly preferred.

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift 23 kg. on a regular basis.

  • High attention to detail and accurate inventory record keeping.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

  • Ability to follow written, oral, diagram, and schedule instructions.

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to identify products by sight.
