Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Enforce local and state laws and county ordinances relating to public safety and welfare. Patrols assigned areas; apprehends and arrests violators; performs a variety of public service safety and security functions with a primary role of school security at assigned school.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Provide law enforcement services for your assigned school
  • Schedule deputies for off duty work for school functions
  • Work with school administrators to address safety concerns of your school
  • Conduct periodic security assessments of your school
  • Perform supportive call duty in various environments under varying degrees of stress, while maintaining a high degree of professionalism
All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for School Resource Officer – Special Services Division. Additional requirements for the position are outlined below:
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be a certified Class 1 Officer from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
  • Must have School Resource Officer certification from the SC Carolina Criminal Justice, or the ability to achieve certification within a specified timeframe
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, amp; ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work independently, exercising discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential matters.
  • Ability to perform duties with general direction, limited supervision, and a high degree of self-motivation and time management.
  • Demonstrated professional etiquette and the ability to plan, organize, supervise, and/or instruct personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and engage well with juveniles.
