2026 Salary Range: ($44,766 - $74,589) / Yearly with locality

The primary purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, install, modify, repair, and adjust a variety of aircraft ordnance systems such as missile and special weapons launching devices, decoys, egress and jettison systems, and rocket launching equipment.
The organizational location of this position is: Air Force Material Command (AFMC)/ Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC)/ Hill Air Force Base, UT/ Ogden Air Logistics Complex (OO-ALC)/309 AMXG.
The organizational goals or objectives of this position are: Provide aircraft ordnance systems depot level support to DoD activities. Responsible for troubleshooting, repair, installation, modification, and operational and functional testing and adjustment of aircraft ordnance systems, equipment, and components.
This is a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of, Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic, WG-6652-10. Incumbent works closely with the supervisor in performing duties identified in the full performance standard core personnel document/core document.

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical (if applicable)
Required to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts objects up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Most heavy lifting is accomplished through the use of mechanical devices.
- The employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include overtime, and/or days, swings, or owl shifts, uncommon tours, weekends, etc.
- The employee may be required to work during base exercises, contingencies or emergency situations.
- The employee may occasionally travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft IAW Joint Travel Regulations to other government installations, contractor facilities, or other commercial Locations for both training and mission accomplishment or for required schooling.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge to troubleshoot, repair, modify, and test systems of a variety of aircraft ordnance systems such as missile and special weapons launching devices, decoys, egress and jettison systems, and rocket launching equipment; set up the work area; determine the degree of disassembly necessary; and the extent of rework needed.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Skill in the use of test equipment and measuring devices such as leak detectors, feeler gauges, dial indicators, micrometers, bore sight tools, multimeters, voltmeters, and ammeters.
4. Ability to interpret and apply technical orders, technical manuals, blueprints, schematic drawings, and other technical information.
5. Ability to troubleshoot, repair, modify, adjust and test a variety of aircraft ordnance systems using electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles of operation such as missile and special weapons launching devices, decoys, egress and jettison systems, and rocket launching equipment without more than normal supervision.
