Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Civil/ Structural Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution group in Los Angeles, California. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast paced environment, this is the opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing civil engineering design and technical support for the construction and modification of Transmission and Distribution systems
  • Preparing proposals, study reports, engineering specifications, and contract documents
  • Reviewing project documents and drawings for technical quality and accuracy
  • Managing multiple tasks in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Utilizing expertise of general civil and structural designs and acting as a resource for industry codes, standards, and construction methods
  • Establishing good working relationships and communication with discipline leads, project managers and clients
Skills / Qualifications
  • Graduate or Undergraduate engineering degree coupled with eligibility to register as Professional Engineer (PE) in California
  • 5 -10 years of industrial experience in projects of varying stages from conceptual to detailed design
  • Capable of developing creative yet practical concepts
  • Experience in writing technical reports
  • Excellent organizational, technical, communication and computer skills
  • Ability to handle challenges and work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills / positive attitude and ability to work in a team atmosphere is required
  • Familiarity with substation and transmission line projects will be an asset
  • Familiarity with seismic retrofit of industrial buildings will be an asset
