The Wooten Company's Raleigh, NC office is seeking a team-focused, innovative Site Civil Project Manager with strong storm water background to join our expanding Civil Site Team.ย 

Who are you? The ideal candidate is a highly motivated civil engineer with a seasoned depth of experience successfully completing site development and minor roadway projects that include components of grading, drainage, stormwater management and erosion control for both municipal and private clients. You are responsible, work well with a team and communicate well with people of varying backgrounds and experiences. You are eager to learn and grow professionally in your field.

What will you be doing? Candidates can expect to work with a variety of stakeholders including land developers, owners, designers, and permitting agencies. The person in this role can make a significant community impact by supporting our clients as they work to create an exciting array of projects such as multi-family developments, commercial, downtown renovations, parks, and innovative stormwater solutions for local municipalities. Candidates can expect to be continually challenged to independently design projects that develop solutions to meet our client's needs, using the right mix of advanced technology and historically successful measures, while working within the financial boundaries of the project stakeholders.ย 

Who will you be working with? The Site Civil Project Manager can expect cross functional collaboration across all teams and specialties, providing an opportunity to interact with The Wooten Company colleagues in both North and South Carolina. Additionally, this person will regularly work with municipal and private clients, as well as state and federal regulatory agencies. For the right person with a desire to grow professionally, this role is a good opportunity to obtain a depth and breadth of civil engineering ability and to contribute to the growing presence of Wooten, in both the North and South Carolina regions.ย 

Where will you be working? Our HQ is in downtown Raleigh and where this position would be located. Conveniently nestled in the Glenwood South District, the local area is filled with restaurants and nightlife, unique shops, art galleries and studios, and convenient apartment and condominium living. The Wooten Company also has 5 other offices located in Wilmington, Winston-Salem, Greenville, and Hickory, NC as well as Columbia, SC.ย 

Requirements

ย ย MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in a consulting engineering environmentย 
  • NC Licensed Professional Engineer (or if licensed outside NC, ability to obtain NC license within one year)
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (O365) applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD - Civil 3D strongly preferred
  • Familiar with Stormwater Modeling Programs such as: HydroCAD, HydroFlow, and/or other Stormwater Similar Programsย 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong Technical Skills in Site/Roadway Layout, Grading, Drainage, Stormwater Management, Utility, and Erosion Control Design.ย 
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modelingย Writing and Compiling Stormwater Reports and/or Narrativesย 
  • Experience with Compiling Project Manuals.ย 
  • Familiarity with Limited Construction Administration and Observation.ย 
  • Ability to Communicate Effectively to Design Team and Clients.ย 
  • Able to Manage Multiple Projects at One Time.ย 
  • Develop Project Schedules and Analyzing Project Budgets.ย 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain firm understanding of project phases from kick-off to close-out.ย 
  • Manage and Perform (if necessary) following tasks as a project manager:ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Preliminary Engineering Due Diligence

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Research Federal, State and Local Government Agencies as Required for Land Development Projects.ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Develop Conceptual Plans Based on Research and Client Requestsย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Generate necessary engineering design computations to support the design.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Prepare Construction Plans required for the project

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Prepare Site, Utility, Grading/Drainage, Stormwater Management, Erosion Control, and Roadway Designs per the Local ย Authorizing Agency.ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Compile Project Manual Which Includes Contract Documents and Technical Specifications.ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Prepare and Obtain Necessary Permitsย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Coordinate with Other Disciplines as Required ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย o Assist with the Project Advertisement, Bidding, and Contracting
