Job description

Mentor Technical Group (MTG) provides a comprehensive portfolio of technical support and solutions for the FDA-regulated industry. With offices in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and Boston, we serve life sciences clients in the United States, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Germany, Canada, and South America.
Responsibilities
  1. Perform all functions related to construction management with limited supervision.
  2. Lead and oversee construction projects from planning through execution, commissioning, and closeout activities.
  3. Ensure project execution complies with cGMP requirements, applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and client standards.
  4. Manage construction schedules, budgets, resources, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery.
  5. Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, construction documents, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  6. Provide technical leadership and engineering support during all project phases.
  7. Conduct field inspections and monitor site activities to verify compliance with approved plans, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  8. Coordinate with clients, engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to facilitate project execution.
  9. Identify project risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and promptly communicate issues to management and clients.
  10. Prepare project status reports, construction progress reports, budget analyses, and other project documentation as required.
  11. Promote a customer-oriented culture by understanding client needs and developing effective solutions that support project goals.
  12. Guarantee the highest quality of services provided by reviewing work performed and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  13. Maintain excellent professional relationships with MTG clients, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and technical expertise at all times.
  14. Support business development efforts by identifying project opportunities and providing technical expertise during proposal development activities.
  15. Ensure compliance with MTG administrative requirements, including timesheets, training records, certifications, and other company documentation.
  16. Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations, engineering practices, construction methodologies, and emerging technologies applicable to the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, Food & Beverage, and Healthcare industries.
  17. Other duties as assigned by management and/or client representatives.
Education & Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  2. Professional Engineer (PE) License active and in good standing (Required).
  3. Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction management, engineering project management, or industrial construction projects.
  4. Experience managing projects within FDA-regulated industries, including Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, or similar manufacturing environments preferred.
  5. Strong knowledge of construction practices, contract administration, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  6. Knowledge of cGMP regulations, OSHA requirements, local building codes, and industry standards.
  7. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and construction management software.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish preferred.
  9. Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  10. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in cross-functional teams.
  11. OSHA 30-Hour Certification and PMP Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to visit and inspect active construction sites.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and access construction areas when necessary.
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
