Please Note: Our Design Engineering Internship is available for Junior and Senior Civil Engineering Students. If you are a Freshman or Sophomore, please refer to the Summer Internship 2027 (Field Engineering) job application.
As a Design Engineering Intern at Walker Partners, you will work alongside our experienced engineering, surveying, and construction management teams to be exposed to many different aspects of the civil engineering industry. As a valuable addition to our company, you will assist your project team and collaborate with our engineers on a variety of civil engineering projects across general civil, land development, water resources, transportation and institutions. This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of civil engineering disciplines while following projects through every step of the engineering process. From conceptual design and coordination, to assisting with the bidding process and supporting construction management - you'll be involved in helping deliver projects from cradle to grave!
Responsibilities
ยป Use technical software, including but not limited to AutoCAD Civil3D, HEC-RAS, Hydroflow, ArcGIS, Flowmaster, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel, to develop, analyze, and quality-check engineering plans and technical specifications
ยป Support civil engineering efforts - including planning, design, and permitting - across a diverse portfolio of projects
ยป Work side-by-side with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges and bring our clients' infrastructure and development goals to life
ยป Build working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations while gaining familiarity with Walker Partners' quality standards and client specific procedures
ยป Actively participate in several Walker Partners University workshops, seminars, and field trips
Minimum Qualifications
ยป Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline (from ABET Accredited Civil Engineering Program)
ยป Must currently be a Junior or Senior
